Digital minimalism update
First off the good things. I learned how to solve a rubik's cube (sub 5mins so far), and I'm getting back into anime with the new season of log horizon and Kuroko no Basket. I've been having trouble with digital minimalism. Staying off social media is easy but I don't think I was ready for the social isolation that comes from it. I have all the things against me, I was homeschooled growing up, moved to a rural area when I was about twelve, and drove an hour to university so I never really got t...

one more thing
Something that I forgot to mention from my last post was this little insight. My porn addiction was being propped up by my phone usage. All my triggers that usually came from social media discover algorithms are gone and harder to access and I also don't feel the need to continue the dopamine high that I would get from continued phone usage. I hope for the sake of others like me that there will be a mass exodus from social media in favor of things that are real, pure, and dictated by our actions...

Almost a one eighty
After reading digital minimalism by Cal Newport I have severely cut my screen time down over the past two weeks. During lockdown and six months after my first relationship my screentime on my phone hit an all-time high with one day reaching twelve hours and averaging ten hours that week. I mainly bounced around tinder, snapchat, instagram, youtube, anime, and various porn sites. The way this week is going for screentime is pretty absurd by contrast, I'm averaging about two to three hours a day. ...

Japanese floor futon For some reason when I was growing up I would sometimes prefer the floor instead of a bed. My parents went along with it and got me a 1.5in thick piece of foam and I would rotate between my bed and the piece of foam. As time went on that piece of foam went to my best friend's house and when I slept over I would always use it. I spent nights less and less when I moved far away from my best friend's house so I didn't sleep on the floor for a while. Fast forward to 2015 and I ...

Koss portapros headphones These headphones may not have the soundstage of headphones with the drivers further away from the ears but I really do like them. the bass is punchy and everything else seems pretty detailed. I personally wear them with the headband barely touching my head with the main staying power coming from the clamping force of the comfort zone pad, I also set the zone to light to get just a little more soundstage. ...

Safety Razor. I could drop the mic right there but honestly it has probably been the best thing I have ever invested in. Since investing about 50$ back in 2017 I have enjoyed 2.5cent shaves ever since. a pack of 100 blades will cost you about 10 dollars but you can do two really good shaves per side, even if you go with one shave per side it's 5 cents a shave. Bowling. I’ve been bowling since I think I was 11 years old first starting out with a Friday night league with my grandma and my parents. During university there wasn’t a bowling alley near me so I took a four year break. I’m back now and I’m aiming for a regional pba tournament win but that’s going to take a lot of work.
